The sixth edition of the Marché Etsy Fait au Québec à Montréal is almost here and we’d like to invite you to come visit our creative market, but to also take some time to discover the Technopole Angus and make a whole day out of it! You’ll feel like a tourist in your own city and we promise you won’t regret it.
If you need some caffeine to start the day, then head out to Mamie Clafoutis. Order a café au lait with the most scrumptious croissants in town. Do yourself a favour and get a baguette for later (if you can wait to eat it! Unfortunately, I can’t have a baguette from Mamie Clafoutis in my hands and not eat it immediately #teamnoselfcontrolwhenitcomestobread)
Not a fan of patisseries? No problem! Visit Station-W and get ready to have your mind blown by the best grilled cheese on the east side of the Mt- Royal. Get a smoothie, a cortado or a cold brew. There is no right or wrong when pairing grilled cheese with a beverage and we’re not ones to judge.
Going on a date before our market? For a chic and modern brunch experience check out Hoogan & Beaufort (yes, they are open for brunch AND they have mimosas!) Feel like trying new things? Order their Boris lemonade made with pineapple, vanilla and rosemary. It’s what heaven tastes likes (if heaven has lemons).
If you choose to have lunch near our market, head on to Magnolia MTL to chow down on locally grown, freshly prepared dishes. Try their baba ganoush with grilled asparagus and fried cauliflower or if you prefer a meatier option go for their version of back ribs served with veggies.
Feel like treating yo’self? We have good news for you. There’s a Chocolat Favoris on site! If you feel adventurous order the dessert poutine, but maybe share it with your 40 best friends because it is da bomb. Can’t wait for Halloween? Try their new pumpkin soft serve ice cream dipped in classic dark chocolate and start a new fall tradition. Bonus points: check out the collection of old chocolate molds that hang from the back wall.
Feel like getting some cheese after a long day? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. Just go to the corner of William-Tremblay and André-Laurendeau and step in La Cloche à Fromage MTL, a self-contained universe of cheesy goodness. They have an 800kg cheese bell and their charcuterie and cheese plates are to die for. Cheese lovers, rejoice!
In case this day was all about food and spending some of your hard earned money on pretty handmade goods (Hey, it was all well spent, what better way to encourage the local economy?) but you feel like you need to wind down, right across the street from the Locoshop Angus is the park Jean Duceppe. It’s perfect for a picnic (if you still feel like eating!) a jog, a power walk (to burn some calories), or just to bring the kiddos to the playground as a reward because they behaved extremely well in a fairly crowded event.
The best part is that if you come on Saturday, you can do it all over again on Sunday.
Come shop local from over 100 artisans, makers and designers and explore the Technopole Angus this Saturday, September 28th and Sunday September 29th.

About the author
Hi! I’m Mel Serangelo, the co-founder of the Collectif Créatif MTL. I visited the Locoshop Angus for the first time in 2004 and I instantly knew that this building and I were going to have a long-lasting relationship. And boy, we sure did! I worked in this building located at 2600 rue William-Tremblay for a whole decade for a social inclusion NGO called Insertech Angus that is now on Molson street and it has been called the most beautiful company in the world.
In 2014 when we started organizing these creative markets with the Collectif Créatif MTL, I approached the SDA about hosting them at the Locoshop and they said yes right away. We love the Locoshop not only because it’s a beautiful building, filled with natural light (yes, it’s Instagram heaven!) but because once there you can feel the history residing on its walls and its magnificent columns.
